In 2019 we became a member of 1% For The Planet and committed to donating at least 1% of our global revenue to environmental causes. Our pledge to provide 1% of revenue, in cash and in kind, sits within our broader commitment to do business better. This month, the KeepCup team swapped their desks for dirt and their coffees for shovels, joining an inspiring day of revegetation with local legends TreeProject, as part of their Ribbons of Green program with Yarra Ranges Council.

How It Works

TreeProject trains volunteers to grow indigenous seedlings in their own backyards, which are then delivered to rural landholders and Landcare groups for revegetation projects. It’s a brilliant model that connects urban and rural communities, creates long-term environmental impact, and builds a deep sense of shared stewardship for the land.

For landholders, accessing affordable seedlings can be all the encouragement they need to begin restoring degraded areas. For volunteers, it’s a chance to develop new skills and help bring Victoria’s ecosystems back to life.

A Big Day Out with a Big Impact

Our team helped plant dozens of indigenous species, from native shrubs to groundcover, all carefully selected for the site. The property, set in the lush surrounds of the Yarra Ranges, will benefit from better soil health, improved water retention, and increased habitat for local wildlife.

Why This Matters to KeepCup

Reuse is just one part of the climate puzzle. Restoring our natural environment is another and TreeProject is doing just that, bringing people together to create enduring, tangible change. As a proud B Corp, KeepCup is committed to making a positive impact, and supporting initiatives like this is one way we can give back to the communities and ecosystems we depend on.

Want to Get Involved?

Whether it’s signing up for a planting day, volunteering to grow seedlings in your backyard, or simply learning more about indigenous species in your area, TreeProject makes it easy to take action.

“We knew we were on to something with identifying trees as a solution when over 700 people came and 5,000 plants were in the ground before lunchtime.”- TreeProject Founder, Maggie McLeod

Thirty-five years and nearly three million seedlings later, that seed of an idea is now a movement. And we’re proud to have played a small part in it — 809 trees’ worth, to be exact.
